I know most people think their financial situation is unique but mine was rather unusual. I freelance and my income is inconsistent from various sources, which made any verification of employment needed to close a refi most difficult. But although my annual income was more than enough for the numbers I was seeking, I was never employed in one place long enough for the final 5 day prior to closing verification of employment. Basically, I was in a Catch 22. Erick Cifuentes was one of the first people I spoke with regarding a refi but was not my first choice to start the process. My first and only mistake! So with 99% of the process completed with another bank, I hit a brick wall due to the difficulty verifying my income/employment to the rule of thumb stated by Fannie Mae. I called up Erick and explained what I was up against. He saw the ridiculousness of the situation, even though my numbers added up, he still was up against the rules needed to verify my employment and said he would see if there was anything he could do. In the mean time, I spent another month trying to work something out with the first bank as well as starting up a new loan with an independent broker. The independent broker said it would not be a problem, but would take 2 to 3 months before closing. After spending about 2 months on this process already, it was not a length of time I really had hoped for. After about a month since Erick said he'd see if he could do anything, I received a call out of the blue from him. He said he apologized for taking so long to get back to me, but he had worked out a deal that allowed my accountant to verify my income and that would be all that was needed to close. I was gun shy and already dealing with two possible loans, but couldn't help but be amazed that Erick never did forget about me. I took the leap of faith and started my third loan in motion. Long story short, after dealing with a second appraisal, Erick closed my loan in 2 weeks. There are no words that I can say that do justice to Erick's dedication and drive to really treat every loan situation as unique and doable, no matter what the obstacles. I felt like I was getting dragged through the muck and mire of this process. Erick swooped in, picked me up and did what I thought would be the impossible! He closed my loan.
